‎JUST IN: Saudi Arabia Declares Friday Eid-el-Fitr as Nigerians Await Sultan’s Announcement

‎The authorities in Saudi Arabia have declared Friday, March 20, 2026, as Eid-el-Fitr following the non-sighting of the crescent moon marking the end of Ramadan.

‎The announcement was made on Wednesday via the official HaraminInfo social media platforms, which confirmed that the Shawwal moon was not sighted in the Kingdom.

‎“The crescent moon has NOT been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, #EidAlFitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20th March 2026,” the statement read.

‎The platform also offered prayers for Muslims worldwide, asking Allah to accept the fasting, nightly prayers, and good deeds observed during the holy month of Ramadan.

‎The declaration means Ramadan will complete 30 days in Saudi Arabia before the commencement of Shawwal.

‎In Nigeria, Muslims are awaiting an official announcement from the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who traditionally confirms the sighting of the moon and declares the date for Eid-el-Fitr in the country.
