‎TUC to Dangote Group: Reinstate Sacked Workers

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has called on the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery to immediately and unconditionally reinstate workers allegedly dismissed by the company.

‎TUC, in a statement issued on Monday, described the mass sack as “unjust, exploitative, and unacceptable,” stressing that it violates the rights of Nigerian workers and contravenes labour laws.

‎According to the union, the affected employees were reportedly laid off following demands for better welfare and improved working conditions at the refinery.

‎The statement warned that failure by the refinery management to reverse the action could trigger nationwide industrial action.

‎“We will not fold our arms while Nigerian workers are treated as disposable commodities. We demand their reinstatement without delay, and an end to anti-labour practices,” the union declared.

‎The TUC further urged the Federal Government and relevant regulatory agencies to intervene and compel the refinery to comply with labour standards, noting that workers’ contributions are central to the success of the country’s industrial growth.
