Chevron: Gas Flaring Has Reduced By 97% In Past Decade

Chevron Nigeria has disclosed that, through investments in gathering and processing of associated gas, routine flaring has dropped by over 97 percent in the past 10 years in its operations.

He said this yesterday at a training programme on business and finance organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in partnership with Chevron Nigeria at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The theme of the training is ‘Driving Nigeria’s Business and Economy.’ Olusegun Aribike, Ademola Irinyemi, Blessing Anaro and Emeka Ugwuanyi, who delivered papers, deliberated on the business and economic climate of the nation, agreed that there is a business to be explored to boost the Nigerian economy through oil and gas and blue economy.

General Manager (GM), Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Chevron Nigeria, Esimaje Brikinn, said that besides oil exploration and production, Chevron Nigeria Limited is the highest contributor of high-quality domestic gas in Nigeria among the International Oil Companies (IOCs), pointing out that it is committed to lowering carbon emission and reducing gas flaring in Nigeria.

He said Chevron’s vision is to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance.

Brikinn said that the company believes that energy is essential to modern life, adding that providing energy is a profound responsibility for them.

Thus, he assured that the company is committed to developing affordable, reliable, ever-cleaner energy that enables human progress around the world.
