FG Targets 40% Local Content for Nigeria’s Automotive Industry – Uzoka
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has unveiled plans to boost local content in the Nigerian automobile industry by sourcing 40% of components domestically.
This initiative seeks to tap into the sector’s vast potential and unlock new opportunities for growth and development.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, made the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja during her presentation at the ongoing Ministerial Sectorial Press Briefing put together by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
According to the Ministers, the Ministry is collaborating with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to implement the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP).
The goal, she said, is to boost local production of automotive components, including glasses, tires, batteries, brake pads, seats, exhaust systems, and electric cables, among others. This will enable the Nigerian automotive industry to meet 40% of its component needs locally.
