
The Senate has received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) in the person of Mrs Aishah Ahmad.
Upon confirmation, Mrs. Ahmad will replace a former Deputy Governor, Mrs Sarah Alade who retired early this year, a statement by Presidential Media Adviser, Femi Adesina said.
In accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, President Buhari urged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately.
Mrs Ahmad, from Niger State, is a graduate of accounting from the University of Abuja. She also has a Master of Business Administration MBA in finance from the University of Lagos. Before her appointment, Ahmad was in charge of the Consumer Banking Division at Diamond Bank Plc. She is married to retired Brigadier General Abdallah Ahmad and they have two sons.
