Over 2,000 rice farmers in Kano have received soft loans from the management of BUA Group of Companies as part of the company’s attempt to boost massive rice production in Kano State as pledged by the company.
Speaking while disbursing fertilizer, improved seeds and other farm inputs to the rice farmers, BUA Group Managing Director, Alhaji Kabiru Rabiu, stated that the gesture done by the company is aimed at complimenting the federal government policy of diversifying into agriculture.
He said that the pilot project of the company is targeting 50,000 rice farmers within four years.
Alhaji Rabiu also stated that the company is not using the anchor-borrower scheme but using its capital for the take-off of the pilot project.
