The Executive Governor of Kwara state, AbdulFatah Ahmed has released N1.2 billion for the payment of teachers’ salary, as compared to the N706 million received in June.
The state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, gave this commitment during an interaction with local government chairmen, their treasurers, labour leaders and top government officials.
“The Kwara State Government is to augment the July 2016 federal allocation to local government councils in the state with N160m to ensure that teachers and all other local government workers are paid their full salaries for the month”, he announced, saying the intervention became necessary because the July allocation to local government councils was inadequate to pay the full salaries of all local government workers.
Meanwhile, the Governor has also approved a five-man panel of enquiry to probe alleged irregular mass recruitment in the state Teaching Service Commission.
