
The wife of the President of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, will declare open the Women in Management and Leadership Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Management on Thursday.
A statement stated that Buhari, who would be the special guest of honour at the two-day conference, would unveil the official plaque and slogan of the conference during the opening ceremony.
The statement issued by the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Institute, Mr. Tony Fadaka, said the conference themed, ‘Women in Management: Inspiring positive transformation,’ would help women refocus their career and business goals for growth.
According to him, it will be featuring innovative thought-provoking and visionary presentations.
Speaking further, Fadaka revealed that the main focus of the conference is to “discuss and examine how women can become effective agents of transformation, expose them to the challenges of organisational politics and how to surmount them.”
The registrar added that the conference would also “help women to understand the need to navigate the path of leadership with more conviction and confidence in the workplace and community while providing them with the insightful knowledge, perspectives and strategies of reaching their goals in various aspects of their professional and personal lives.”
He explained that there had been a surge of assertive, innovative and enterprising women leaders, entrepreneurs and pioneers in Nigeria who had distinguished themselves over the years.
According to him, a former Director, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mrs. Tope Omage, will be the keynote speaker at the conference while the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Financial Institutions Training Centre, Dr. (Mrs.) Lucy Newman and Principal Partner, Pearl Essentials, Mrs. Busola Ikusagba, among others, will make presentations.
