Ex-Senator Commends Ministry of Regional Development
Former Senator representing Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Ita Solomon Enang, has commended the Ministry of Regional Development for its effective management and coordination of various development commissions under its supervision.
The former senator made the commendation during a 3-day ministerial retreat in Lagos, where he expressed satisfaction with the ministry’s commitment to due process.
This was contained in a statement released by Abdulrashid Y. Safana, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Regional Development, on Saturday.
Debunking claims of ineffectiveness, he said, “The ministry is doing a lot to stabilize and put the commissions on a path of sustainability and growth.”

He emphasized the importance of the regional commissions relating well with the ministry for proper guidance, stating, “Contrary to some erroneous assertions in some quarters, the ministry is on the right track.”
Senator Enang also highlighted the need for uniform Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all Regional Development Commissions.
“The Ministry and Ministers should set out a uniform Standard Operating procedures to be used by all the Regional Development Commissions for ease of their operations, avoiding breach of government regulations in their activities,” he suggested.
Talking about following proper chain of command, he further urged the commissions to channel their requests through the Minister, who has delegated powers from the President because, “Some government parastatals and agencies who seek to relate directly with the presidency are making an erroneous claim of independence.”
