
FG to Assist Governor Kefas Boost Sustainable Development in Taraba
The Federal Ministry of Regional Development and Taraba State government have entered a strategic partnership to enhance sustainable development at subnational level.
The agreement was formalize during a during a courtesy call by the Taraba State governor, Agbu Kefas, to the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, on Friday.
According to a statement released by Abdulrashid Y. Safana, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Regional Development, the collaboration aims to facilitate socio-economic growth and development in Taraba.
“The partnership will focus on supporting the state government in achieving significant progress in various sectors, including environment, housing, infrastructure, education, and health.

“This is also expected to boost road infrastructure development, enabling easy communication among local communities and facilitating the speedy evacuation of farm produce which will in turn boost economic activities and improve livelihoods in the state,” Maigari said, while receiving the Taraba Chief Executive.
Governor Kefas, welcomed the partnership, stating that it would help Taraba indigenes “live the life they deserve.”
The governor praised Maigari as “a team worker with innovative ideas” while reiterating his commitment to the partnership, pledging to provide the necessary resources.
In her remark, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, emphasized the importance of synergy in achieving sustainable regional development.
She expressed the ministry’s eagerness to explore more avenues for mutual cooperation and underscored its dedication to supporting state governments in initiatives that promote inclusive development, infrastructure expansion, and economic prosperity.
Others present at meeting include the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Kizito John Benzena, and the Managing Director of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed G. Alkali.
