FG Streamlines Public Service Access with Digital Platform
The Federal Government, through its digital infrastructure provider, Galaxy Backbone, has launched the Government Service Portal in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
According to a statement on Wednesday by the Head of Media and Corporate Communications at Galaxy Backbone, Chidi Okpala, the initiative will enhance government-to-citizen interactions and improve access to public services across the nation.
The GSP is designed as a unified digital platform that streamlines access to public services, enabling citizens to interact seamlessly with multiple government agencies without the need for in-person visits.
Galaxy Backbone stated that the launch was marked by a high-level workshop with representatives from 12 key government agencies, aimed at driving the first phase of this project.
According to the agency, the initiative will facilitate access to critical services such as National Identification Number registration, immigration services, and healthcare, among others.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, who represented Minister Bosun Tijani, highlighted the significance of the project and the need for deepened collaboration and deeper citizen engagement.
‘The Government Service Portal has the potential to change lives, and I believe that through efficient and effective collaboration we will achieve a lot for our nation,” the minister said.
The Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanyu, emphasised the significance of the initiative in transforming how government services are delivered to Nigerians.
He noted, “The Government Service Portal is a testament to Nigeria’s dedication to embracing digitalisation for improved governance.
“Galaxy Backbone is proud to lead this initiative, working alongside KOICA to make public services more efficient, transparent, and accessible to all. With the engagement of these pilot agencies, we are taking a major step toward a fully digitised public service ecosystem that will benefit every Nigerian citizen.”
The Country Director at KOICA, Sunjil SON, expressed the agency’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s journey toward an inclusive digital economy.
He noted, “KOICA is delighted to partner with Galaxy Backbone and the Government of Nigeria in delivering a platform that will change how citizens interact with their government. This initiative aligns with our broader mission of promoting sustainable development through technology and innovation.”
