Gov Aliyu, SenatorWamakko Face Corruption Allegations from Sokoto Lawmaker, Hon Gudu
In a scathing series of allegations, Hon. Sani Alhaji Gudu, a member of the House of Representatives from the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly accused key members of his own party, including Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, of various acts of corruption and mismanagement during a press briefing in Sokoto.
This marks the fourth time within two months that Gudu has made such claims against his party colleagues. He accused Wamakko and Governor Aliyu of prioritizing their children’s education abroad while neglecting less privileged families, alleging that they sent their children to study in the UK, contrasting their actions with the previous administration which he claims supported the education of the poor.
In a video obtained by Politics Digest, Gudu further accused the state leadership of mismanagement of Sokoto’s resources, specifically through what he terms “illegal contracts” related to a fencing project.
“We have witnessed unnecessary demolitions and confiscations of property,” Gudu stated, condemning their focus on personal gain over the welfare of the citizens.
In a dramatic turn, Gudu also accused the senator and governor of colluding with former President Olusegun Obasanjo to undermine the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that both the national APC leadership and the President are aware of their actions.
He challenged the leadership to provide evidence of productive projects worth 50 million Naira each in the 23 local governments they recently visited for campaign purposes.

Gudu did not hold back, demanding accountability: “We give the governor a two-week ultimatum to disclose the management of local government funds.” He even hinted at potential corruption, stating, “What has been done with the additional 89 billion Naira supplementary budget?”
Gudu’s criticisms extended beyond budgetary issues; he claimed that the Sokoto Government House resembles a “Bureau De Change,” alleging it has become a front for financial misappropriation. He called upon the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate these occurrences.
During a recent constituency effort to distribute palliatives, Gudu reiterated efforts to eliminate what he termed “political slavery,” hinting at Wamakko’s past influence over the region. He also raised concerns regarding security in the Tangaza/Gudu zone, accusing the state government of failing to adequately support local vigilantes due to perceived elitism. In light of governmental neglect, he announced intentions to procure motorcycles for local vigilante groups directly.
The backlash did not stop at Gudu; fellow party member Senator Ibrahim Lamido also faced off against Wamakko and Governor Aliyu during a constituency event. Lamido emphasized the need for progressive leaders, lamenting a lack of accountability concerning a N3 billion Naira flooding relief fund.
Gudu concluded with a passionate denunciation of the current administration, claiming, “I am the shield of innocent Sokoto people from the tyrannical government,” vowing to protect the interests of his constituents at any cost, even risking his life if necessary.
As the political drama unfolds, it remains to be seen how the APC leadership in Sokoto will respond to these incendiary allegations and the demand for transparency and accountability from their own ranks.
