How we Recovered 4bn Stolen Funds Within 24 Hours – ICPC Boss
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN, has explained how he recovered a whopping sum of 4 billion naira stolen funds within 24 hours.
Addressing participants at the One-Day National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC), Members Hybrid Interactive Forum held at ICPC headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Aliyu stated that “within the last twenty-four hours (from 18th to 19th September 2024), we have recovered close to four billion naira from public funds, which has left the government coffers into private custody.”

According to the ICPC boss, “It’s alarming to see how much money is being misappropriated, and some individuals have billions of naira in their possession for personal gain. It’s a shocking reality that people are hoarding public funds instead of using them for the benefit of the nation. “
The ICPC boss also reiterated the need to invest more in technology which will help minimise the challenges of corruption, particularly in public procurement.
“By implementing tech-driven processes, we can reduce practices like contract inflation.
“And as a commission, we are utilising technology and management systems to restore confidence in the fight against corruption. We are committed to ensuring transparency in this endeavor.
“Also, using technologies like blockchain can help eliminate manipulation, ensuring the integrity of public procurement”, he added.
