Marine, Blue Economy Ministry Ranks in PEBEC Top 10, But Our Target is Top 3 – Oyetola
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola has said that despite being among the top performers on the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), his goal is to secure a position in the top three rankings.
Speaking at the BusinessDay Maritime Conference in Lagos on Thursday, Oyetola emphasized the ministry’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business, a pivotal factor in overcoming trade barriers and unlocking economic growth within the sector.
He said, “The Ministry is fast tracking Mr. President’s ambition to improve the ease of doing business which remains a vital push-button for overcoming trade barriers and unlocking economic growth potentials in the maritime sector.
“As part of this, the Ministry is engaging all relevant government agencies to ensure the full rollout of the National Single Window initiative.

“As a member of the Steering Committee, I share Mr. President’s commitment to ensure efficient trade processing at the ports towards enhanced ease of doing business ranking and increased revenue generation. To complement this initiative, the ministry agencies are in the top 10 ranking on Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) and our goal is to always be top 3,” Oyetola said.
He added that the Ministry is also fast-tracking work to finalize the implementation of a Port Community System towards automating port processes, the implementation of the International Cargo Tracking Note, Truck Call Up Systems and procurement of Port Scanners through the Nigerian Customs Service, all of which are geared towards ensuring operational efficiency at the Ports.
The former Osun state governor also commended BusinessDay Media Limited for organizing such conference that raises awareness about the vast opportunities in the maritime sector.
“The contributions and discussions here today will be crucial in shaping the future of Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy Sector and will significantly advance our efforts towards national economic prosperity,” Oyetola said.
