
Saudi Arabia: A National Day Worthy of Celebration

Saudi Arabia, the largest country in the Arabian Peninsula, celebrates its national day today, September 23.
This year’s celebration marks the historic event of the unification of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz in 1932 by King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman AI Saud, the founder of lthe modern Saudi State.
On this occasion, the people of Saudi Arabia express their pride and gratitude to their country, for its achievements and rich culture.
Saudi Arabia is home to more than 34 million people, who belong to various ethnic, religious and linguistic groups.

Report has it that the national day also features cultural performances such as folk dances, songs, and poetry recitals. Some of the most popular dances are the Ardha (the sword dance), the Khaleeji (the Gulf dance), and the Al-Samri (the drum dance).
These dances reflect the different regions and tribes of Saudi Arabia, as well as their history and values. The songs and poems celebrate the country’s unity, identity and achievements.
The marking of this important occasion offers an opportunity for people to enjoy Saudi Arabia’s cuisine, which is influenced by various cultures and regions. Some of the most common dishes are kabsa (rice with meat), mandi (meat cooked in a pit), mutabbaq (stuffed pancake), shawarma (meat wrap), falafel (fried chickpea balls), hummus (chickpea dip), tabbouleh (parsley salad), and dates (dried fruits). These dishes are usually accompanied by Arabian coffee or tea.
Moreso, the national day is a time for Saudis to celebrate their country’s achievements in various fields such as education, health care, economy, science, technology, sports, and diplomacy. Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in these areas over the years, thanks to its visionary leadership and its hard-working people.
