Zelenskyy Advocates Global Summit After Saudi’s Peace Talks
Few days after the just concluded summit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for a global summit to take place later this year to further discuss the principles that Kyiv wants to be the basis for peace, including the withdrawal of all Russian troops and the return of all Ukrainian territory to its control.
Zelenskyy’s Head of staff Andriy Yermak describes the Jeddah talks “as very productive ” as most of the principles for permanent peace were discussed.
However, Russia was conspicuously absent at the meeting. It was gathered that Russian officials allegedly described the peace talks as a “reflection of the West’s attempt to continue futile, doomed efforts” to mobilize the Global South behind Zelenskyy’s position.
The Saudi Arabia talk which was organized by the national security advisers and other officials in the Desert Kingdom of Jeddah explained Riyadh’s “readiness to exert its good offices to contribute to reaching a solution that will result in permanent peace,” as was reported on Friday by official Saudi Press Agency.
The two-day Jeddah talk had in attendance more than 40 countries, including China, India, the United States, and European countries.
