
Saudi’s Islamic Conference Concludes with Emphasis on Moderation, Tolerance

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has concluded its much anticipated two-day conference on religious tolerance.
The international conference was themed, “Communication with the Departments of Religious Affairs, Ifta and Sheikhdoms in the World.”
The two-day conference had in attendance about 150 leading Islamic scholars, muftis, religious leaders and thinkers from 85 countries.
The discussion at the end of the meeting reiterated the need for enhanced communication, integration and deeper alliance in Islamic liaisons among departments of religious affairs, ifta and sheikhdoms worldwide to achieve unity among Muslims.
The event was organised by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance.
The conference signaled a message to the world about Saudi endeavours to serve Islam and Muslims, as well as promoting the values of moderation.
ECONOMIC CONFIDENTIAL reports that participants at the conference presented research papers in seven sessions which covered a wide-range of topics; such as efforts in the service of Islam, promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, moderation, the Prophet’s Sunnah, combating extremism, terrorism, protecting society from atheism and dissolution.
The departments of religious affairs, ifta and sheikhdoms worldwide was also charged with the responsibility of promoting the values of moderation and tolerance in the discussion of Dawah and educational curricula.
More importantly, the communique highlighted the importance of showcasing the true values of tolerance, compassion and justice with emphasis on the detrimental impact of extremist groups in distorting Islam, fueling conflict, dividing societies and spreading chaos and insecurity.
