N3trn Bill: NMPSR iPlans Roundtable to Brainstorm on Nigeria’s Power Crisis

Worried by the huge amount of money spent by the Federal Government in the power sector since it was privatised in 2013, the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) Market Participants Roundtable (NMPSR) has proposed a conference to urgently address the problem of poor electricity supply and distribution, in the country.
ECONOMIC CONFIDENTIAL reports that an estimated N3 trillion was spent as intervention funds on the country’s energy sector by FG in the last 10 years, without any corresponding result.

The NMPSR stakeholders have agreed to hold the conference between October 30 and November 1, 2023, it was gathered.
Briefing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Prof. Stephen Ogaji, Chairman of the proposed conference’s Organizing Committee, said their maiden roundtable event is themed: NESI Privatisation and its 10-Year Milestone.
He added: “The three-day event is expected to bring together, market participants, stakeholders, government representative, regulators, investors and experts to diligently address challenges and proffer solutions on the various aspects of the power value-chain, including gas generation, transmission, distribution, metering, finance/liquidity, renewables, as well as exploring potential ramifications of the new Electricity Act, 2023.”
