Day Arewa Agenda Celebrated 30 Innovative Northern Youths
By Idris Umar,
It was a ceremony that was truly flamboyant and colourful. For Arewa Agenda, a media subsidiary of the Image Merchants Promotion, IMPR, Limited, it was time to honour 30 young Northerners, shattering glass ceilings in various fields of human endeavour.
In their various professional fields, the 30 prolific youths, are blazing the trail. And their reward came on Saturday, December 3, 2022, when they bagged the ‘Arewa 30 Under 30’ awards, in the ancient city of Kano.
The objective of the Arewa Agenda award, indeed, is to reward young northerners who have outstandingly excelled in their chosen career, according to the organizers. And that include creative artistes, budding entrepreneurs, young successful women, and youth politicians, among others.
At the award, a Borno State-born tech wizard, Mustapha Abubakar Gajibo, received the ‘Innovator of the Year’ award for pioneering the art of designing electric vehicles in the country.
Among the notable awardees is Adnan Mukhtar Tudunwada, the Manager of PRNigeria, Kano Centre, who was named the ‘Young Politician of the Year’.
Dr. Kabir Sufi, leader of the awards’ panel of judges comprising a seasoned academic, senior journalist, business leader and tech expert, said their panel had a tough time selecting the 30 winners from about 300 nominees.
Sufi, however said that the celebrants were properly assessed before their awards were conferred on them.
Chief Host of the ceremony and Managing Director of IMPR, Mal. Yushau Shuaib, said the awardees, who are young, talented, and productive, are making positive impacts not only in the country, but beyond.
“Arewa is occasionally underrated and under-reported on many giant strides recorded by our young minds.
“Hence, we have chosen to recognize their outstanding contributions. The awardees are also going to become role models for many people in this part of the world.”
Guests at the event, while speaking to Politics Digest, said it is necessary that the award program is sustained.
They said: “This is because it will encourage many other northern youths, across our 19 States, to do more”.
Some fast-rising artistes and comedians entertained guests with their beautiful music and comedy. There was also a panel discussion on how to elevate the thinking capacity and living standard of northern youths.
