NNPC to Establish Automotive Biofuel Refinery in Kogi
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has stepped up plans to establish a massive Automotive Biofuels Programme for Nigeria in Kogi state.
As part of efforts to drive the process, the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Thursday received an NNPC delegation led by one of its General Managers, Dr Funmilola Ale, who briefed him on the progress made so far in putting the structure together.
The Automotive Biofuels Programme for Nigeria which involves Sugarcane Fuel Ethanol Project is meant to be established at Ike-Bunu, in Kabba/Bunu local government area of Kogi State.

The agreement for its establishment is a tripartite investment among the NNPC Limited, CONTEC Global Energy Limited and the Kogi State Government which was signed in 2017.
Addressing the delegation on Thursday, the governor made a case for the host community to also have an equity share in the refinery, stating that compensation for land should not be the only take-home benefit of the host community. He stated that by having a share in the company, the host community will derive long-term benefits and will be more responsive in securing the investment in their domain.
