Customs: 23 Smugglers Arrested, Rakes in N767m in March
The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted smuggled items worth of N767,633,458.50 in the country.
The items were seized by the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A (Lagos and Ogun states) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and 23 persons arrested at various points in connection with smuggling activities in the month of March, 2022.

The acting comptroller of the unit, DC Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu, who disclosed this during a press briefing where he displayed the seizures and suspects to newsmen, says the command collected N89,347,365.25 as revenue within the period.
Ejibunu noted that, “This new wave of the daring attitude of smugglers has claimed the lives of many officers; the latest being the hacking to death of an inspector of customs, Onwegbuzie A, on Senator Road, Ilaro axis in Ogun State, after making a seizure on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
