President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate confirm the appointment of two new members to the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and reconfirm five others.

The duo of Mohammed Salisu and Moa Ohaegbe was recently appointed.

Aliyu Ahmed, Michael Obada, Festus Adeola, Aliyu Sanusi, Robert Asuquo and Festus Adeola also received an extension of their appointments.

Sen. Ahmad Lawan read a letter to the Senate at Tuesday’s plenary in which he cited section 5 (4) of the CBN Act as the reason for his request.

“Pursuant to section 5(4) of the Central Bank of Nigeria act, 2007, I am pleased to forward for confirmation by the Senate of the underlisted two new members and the reappointment of five members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the CBN,”
