
Gifted Hands Cooperative Society Targets 20,000 SMEs for Credit Supports
A multi-talented entrepreneur, Miss Alexandra Jemila, said Gifted Hands and Thrifts Credit Cooperative Society will be assisting over 20,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with ‘mouth-watering’ credit facilities.
According to her, the loans will enable them boost their various businesses, in the next two years.
Ms Alexandra, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Cooperative Society, said they are targeting small-medium scale business owners and young people who want to start their businesses.
She added: “These young persons have good ideas, and strong minds. But the fact that they don’t have collaterals these days to ask for loans from financial institutions, it has become a big deal for them to just startup.
“My target is basically, for them. And with the rate of unemployment, it is not good for a graduate to just sit at home doing nothing.”
The young female CEO, while speaking in an interview with News Digest, expressed belief that her Cooperative Society will continue to expand and grow to be one of the most recognized commercial banks not just in Nigeria, but in Africa.
Jemila, who is also the proprietor of Alexia Luxury Clothing, disclosed that her Cooperative Society has provision for a group loan, where about five market women in a particular area are given sufficient loan to empower their businesses.
The Katsina State-born rising entrepreneur, said: “I hope to see myself and my company getting to a stage where we can help a lot of youths, and lots of small and medium scale enterprises to an extent where they are independent. Where they have their own funds and would not want to look for extra funds or loans.”
