
COVID-19: Humanitarian Affairs Ministry Donates 30 Trucks of Food Items to FCT
About thirty(30) trucks of food items have been donated by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to the Federal Capital territory Administration(FCTA) as palliatives to the poor and the vulnerable in the FCT.
The development is in line with the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration towards the prevention and further spread of COVID 19 in the country.
The donated items include ten(10) trucks of rice, ten(10) trucks of vegetable oil and another ten(10) trucks of grains from the strategic grains reserve of the federal government.
The items were presented by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Mohammed Musa Bello at the NYSC orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja.
Speaking at the occasion, the Hajia Sadiya Farouq noted that the donation was part of efforts to give succour to the poor and the vulnerable in the FCT during the lockdown as announced by Mr President.
“To urgently intervene and provide support for the vulnerable persons, the Ministry has swung into action to ensure that the people receive appropriate intervention and care”.
“We will expand our safety net programme to make sure that we raise the number of qualified beneficiaries with special needs who will receive government support” the Minister noted.
Both Minister of the FCT Muhammadu Musa Bello and the Minister of State for FCT Ramatu Tijani appreciated the gesture from the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry stressing that the development will go along way to assuage the sufferings of the poor and the vulnerable in the FCT.
The FCT Minister of State, Ramatu Tijani particularly said “We are very impressed with the action taken by the Federal government and we will deliver the message to our people, we will make sure that our people use the items donated and observe the stay at home directive” she said.
