
Akpabio Halts Ongoing Employment at NDDC.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has directed the immediate suspension of the ongojng employment processes at the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC).
In a letter obtained by Economic Confidential and addressed to the Ag. Managing Director of the commission with reference no.MNDA/PS/189/5 dated October 3rd, 2019, and signed by the Permanent Secretary Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack(Mni), the minister said the development followed an online newsreport alleging the Minister’s purported involvement to hurriedly employ about 300 staff.
The report titled: ‘Tension in NDDC as Akpabio, Interim Management plot to recruit 300 staff’ rattled the Minister who gave a directive that all processes including issuing of appointment letters be suspended forthwith and that no new employee should be on the payroll and revert to staus quo as at August 31, 2019.
The Minister also directed the commission to furnish the ministry all necessary arrangements made in the said employment exercise within three(3) days on the receipt of the letter.
The letter also said the suspension will subsist until a full evaluation of the exercise is carried out in consultation with the two Niger Delta committees of the National Assembly.
