KEDCO Assures Customers of Improved Power Supply
…Says Media Report on Blackout Untrue
The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has describe as untrue a media report stating that customers of KEDCO should expect blackout in their various regions.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications of KEDCO Mr Ibrahim Sani Shawai and made available to Economic Confidential in Abuja, the electricity firm said that there was no issue of terminating the right of KEDCO in the electricity market, adding that the two hitherto disconnected feeders by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has been restored to full capacity and have effectively and efficiently been put to use.
“Our technicians are already working on to ensuring KEDCO maximizes this opportunity to give to its patient customers reliable, improved and stable power supply across our three States, Kano, Katsina and Jigawa”, the statement said
“Also, as insinuated in some quarters that KEDCO and TCN have issues. This is to state in clear terms that we don’t have any issues with the TCN. We are both good partners in progress. It should be noted that our relationship with TCN is cordial and as such those in the habit of peddling rumours should take it from KEDCO that all is well and we are working together to deliver the promise of the Federal Government with regard to power sector as it pertains to Northern Nigeria.”
In that light also, we wish to put in true perspectives that KEDCO is law abiding and will continue on that path to ensure that the power sector gets the needed improvement in term of distribution. We have no reason to disobey the market operator rule because we are governed by such rules for the smooth running of the relationship between KEDCO and other stakeholders in the sector.
“We are very much back to full capacity and well calibrated to give our customers the needed supply in an improved and efficient manner. It is our duty to satisfy our customers and we are doing that and by that reconnection, we have been boosted to boost the existing satisfaction for customers.”
We therefore, appeal to TCN to look into the issue of the 150MVA transformer that stopped working some 5 years ago with a view to replacing it in order to avoid load shedding as this will further reinforce our capacity to deliver more.
“We also thank all our numerous customers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States for their patience and understanding and we are assuring them that such gesture will culminate into boosting the morale of KEDCO team to improve power supply as well as maximize satisfaction for them as far as power distribution is concerned in our franchise areas”.
