Ekiti Backs Firm On Dairy Farm Revival
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Folorunso Olabode, has indicated the resolve of the state government to support Promasidor Nigeria Limited in its bid to resuscitate Ikun Dairy Farm for raw materials for milk production.
He disclosed this during the recent four-day inspection tour of the dairy farm by Promasidor’s management as part of the partnership agreement with the state government.
This was done in furtherance of the pact signed in July in Abuja by the Managing Director of the company, Anders Einarsson, and the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Olabode, who met with the Promasidor team, said the dairy farm was well positioned to boost the supply of raw materials and expressed delight on the strong commitment by the company in its backward integration initiative in line with the Federal Government’s directives.
He added that Ikun Ekiti community and people of the state wanted to see the milk processing plant function soon because of its economic benefits and employment opportunities.
He said, “The partnership is not a political gimmick and we are certain it will contribute to the growth of the state’s economy and employment opportunities for the citizens.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment, Trade and Innovation, Akintunde Oyebode, said the collaboration with Promasidor would greatly help in the integration of the people and their living standards with the emergence of other small enterprises.
On his part, Einarsson who described the partnership with Ekiti State as exciting prospect for the company, said that Promasidor was prepared to regenerate the dairy farm and make it functional in order to ensure less dependence on foreign raw materials.
