Wilcox Old Boys Urges Implementation of Child Rights Act
…. Donates to Mother Theresa Children’s Home
Wilcox Memorial Comprehensive Secondary School, Aba, Abia State Old Boys Association has urged the various tiers of government in the country to as matter of urgency begin the gradual implementation of the Child Rights Act in order to have positive impact on our children.
The Public Relations Officer of the Wilcox Old Boys Association in Abuja, Mr Osondu Ohaeri stated this on the sidelines of the visit by the association to Mother Theresa Children’s Home located in Gwarinpa Estate in Abuja as part of the group’s programme in touching lives and showering love to the less privileged in the society.
“The core values of the Association are showering love and touching lives and empowering the less privileged and this is done not by words of mouth but by practical demonstration just as we have done this afternoon to Mother Theresa Children’s Home”, he said.
He called on the high and mighty especially the politicians in the country to give back to the society by their generous donations as part of efforts in bridging the poverty gap which will eventually bring succor to the deprived.

The Association donated several bags of rice, beverages, wheat flour, cartons of noodles and undisclosed amount of cash to the Children’s Home in commemoration of this year’s children’s day celebration.
Making the presentation on behalf of the association, the immediate past Chairman and current chairman Board of Trustees (BOT) Barrister (Chief) Kennedy Ohanenye said it was their little contribution to the home to touch their lives.
Barr. Kennedy Ohanenye in company of the current chairman, Barrister Ndubuisi Oriaku said it was the desire of the branch to take care of disadvantaged children, interact with them and feel their pain.
“In line with its policy thrust on empowering the less privileged, the Old Boys has visited Mother Theresa Children’s Home to present household items and sensitize the Children on appropriate social values”, they said.
The highpoint of the occasion was a special prayer offered by Bola, one of the inmates of the home who asked the Almighty God to uplift the members of the old boys and give them good health of mind and body to be of help to the less privileged in the society.
