IPRA 2018: Barcelona Hosts 30 Nations for PR Golden World Awards
The city of Barcelona, Spain is the host of the 2018 Golden World Awards (GWA) for excellence in PR and Conference organised by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).
Award-winning PR firms from over 30 Countries are expected to grace the biggest annual PR event on Friday October 19, 2018.
The Blanquera University in Barcelona will host the Global PR conference with the theme “Voices: a platform for trends in PR” in the morning while the IPRA Gala dinner will hold in the night at the Hotel Catalonia Barcelona Plaza.
The President IPRA, Bart de Vries said the event is for anyone active in PR. “The Conference speakers will cover corporate diplomacy, risk and reputation as well as an insight into what makes for engaging digital presence.
“Not only will a great many winning entries be presented but also, the winning teams from companies, government and PR agencies will be there to receive their awards. In other words it is a gathering of the state-of-the-art public relations across the four continents of the world today. It is an unprecedented opportunity to network and exchange experiences across diverse cultures.
“IPRA will also hold its Board meeting in Barcelona which will discuss inter alia the elections for the next two-year term for our regionally-elected Board.”
IPRA as the world’s most relevant, resourceful and influential professional association for public relations executives, GWA 2018 winners are from various continents Africa, Middle East, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, Latin America and Caribbean.
Some of the leading PR firms across the globe are expected to receive awards at the event. They include Dentsu Inc from Japan, FleishmanHillard of Russia, Hill+Knowlton Strategies from UK, P&G Prima of Turkey, DeVries Global of China; V+O Greece of Greece; fischerAppelt of Germany; Image Merchants Promotion Limited of Nigeria; Ruder Finn Public Relations of China and Hollander van der Mey (HvDM) of Netherland.

The annual IPRA Golden World Awards (GWA) initiative, established in 1990, recognizes excellence in public relations practice worldwide in a variety of categories. Recipients of the award take particular pride in the recognition granted to their entry as meeting international standards of excellence in public relations. The Global Contribution Award recognises a campaign with an objective of meeting one of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The overall IPRA Grand Prix for Excellence is presented to the entry judged as representing the highest standards that year. While there are many national and regional PR awards, there is only one truly global scheme: the GWA.
Voices is a conference that will gather professionals in Strategic Communication and Public Relations from Business Consultancies, PR Companies and Public Institutions, as well as Universities. Hosted by the foremost communications University in the country, this event will feature both local and international content and some examples of GWA winners expertise.
