
BPE Says Recruitment Portal Fake
…Warns Job Seekers against Scammers
The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has dissociated itself from an online portal inviting unsuspecting members of the public to submit job applications with the privatization agency. In a statement in Abuja on Friday, September 28, 2018, and signed by the Head of Public Communications of BPE, Amina Tukur Othman and made available to Economic Confidential in Abuja, the agency said the portal www.bpe.gov.ng was fake and obviously the handiwork of some scammers out to dupe desperate job seekers in the country.
“We wish to state emphatically that BPE is not recruiting at the moment and has therefore, not opened a portal for the purpose (recruitment). The purported BPE Recruitment 2018/2019 Application Form Portal (www.bpe.gov.ng) is fake and the handiwork of scammers”.
The Bureau advised the general public to disregard the said portal as recruitment in the Bureau is advertised in reputable national media and on the Bureau’s website.
Earler this year the Federal Government had cautioned youths against being duped by scammers that are claiming they have jobs to offer through the N-Power programme.
A `disclaimer’ message by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Afolabi Imoukhuede, indicated that at no time of recent that the Federal Government re-opened the N-Power recruitment portal. “Please note that N-Power has not re-opened its website for new applications. “You will recall that N-Power just physically verified pre-selected applicants from the 2017 application season in Dec. 2017,’’ it said.It urged Nigerian to disregard the false information by internet scammers and follow its authentic news channel. The government cautioned applicants not to release their bank verification numbers (BVN) to unauthorized persons and also be wary of paying money to anyone or organization in lieu of job applications.
