Nigeria Airports Record 210,693 Flight Movement
30 Nigerian airports recorded 210, 693 number of aircraft movement in 2017, a data released yesterday by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has shown.
This comprised 105, 360 arrivals and 105,333 departures, it was learnt.
This figure is different from the earlier report released by the Consumer Protection Department of the authority which indicated that eight domestic carriers operated 48, 319 flights in 2017.
The latest data published on the NCAA website is a more comprehensive record of the flight operations across all the airports in the country including those managed by the Federal Government, states and the private sector.
The airports are Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Maiduguri, Sokoto, Ilorin, Yola, Kaduna, Katsina, Minna, Gombe, Enugu, Akure, Benin, Eket, Ibadan, Jos, Makurdi, Owerri, Osubi, Zaria, Bauchi, Escravos, Akwa Ibom, Asaba, FINIMA, Forcados, Kebbi and Dutse.
Lagos had the highest number of aircraft movement of 62, 872 followed by Abuja which had 44, 484 while Dutse Airport in Jigawa had the least record of 106 movement.
Other international airports like Kano, Port Harcourt, Enugu, had aircraft movements of 4,285; 16,367 and 4,573 respectively. Sokoto had 1,474; Ilorin, 2,867; Yola 2,609; Kaduna 7,713; Ibadan 1,984; Jos 1009, among others.
The report showed further that 10, 383, 452 passengers were conveyed locally through the 30 aerodromes. This figure comprises 5, 194, 626 arrivals and 5,188,826 departures.
