The Yobe State government has approved a total of N1, 198, 975, 318.00 for the execution of various projects in agriculture, healthcare, and rural electrification.

Information, Home Affairs and Culture Commissioner, Alhaji Mala Musti revealed this  after the meeting of the state executive council chaired by Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam at the Council Chamber, Government House, Damaturu.

Of this amount, the commissioner revealed, N464, 722, 725.00 will be used for the construction of concrete lining on canals at the Mugura Garin Gada Irrigation Scheme site.

The Mugura Garin Gada Irrigation project is one of three irrigation schemes currently executed by the state government to enhance irrigation agriculture and food production in the state. The others are the Nguru Lake Irrigation Project and the Bolorom Irrigation Project.

The State  government also approved N106, 762, 500.00 as logistics for the transportation of the nearly N2 billion worth of medical equipment and supplies that World Medical Relief (WMR) based in Detroit, USA donated to the state government.

Mala Musti also said that N186, 705, 800.00 was approved for the construction of a 33KV transmission line with a distance of 33 kilometers to link Bayamari Town with Gaidam. He said the project will be jointly funded by the state government and the benefiting local governments at a 70-30 percentage ratio.

Other approvals by the State EXCO include N81, 533, 986.00 for the construction of a perimeter fence for the College of Medical Sciences Yobe State University, N298, 561, 725.00 for the provision of furniture and equipment at the College of Medical Sciences and N60, 688, 583.00 for the landscaping and beautification of the frontage of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Center, Damaturu.
