The Northeast has lost over $9 billion to insurgency in the last seven years.
This is as the National Assembly has also appropriated N12 billion in the 2017 budget to rebuild the zone.
Vice Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Northeast Initiative (PCNI), Tijani Tumsah, addressed a news conference.
He said: “In terms of the cost, there is an immediate short term and long term view. The entire cost for rebuilding the Northeast will, of course, keep changing.
“Our mandate is to provide a strategic framework for the implementation of all interventions going on in the Northest ,in terms of humanitarian, resettlement and rehabilitation, and the eventual rebuilding of the zone.”
Tumsah hinted that the project implementation is premised on a document called “The Buhari Plan”.
“We will channel this strategic implementation framework through a document that has been developed – the Buhari Plan for the rebuilding of the Northwest, which will be launched soon,” he said.
