

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Andrew Oota, the CNA made the promise when he received the Secretary General of ECOWAS parliament, Dr Magbegbola Nelson paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his elevation as Chief Accounting officer and principal Adviser to the National Assembly.
At the courtesy visit which had in attendance some management staff of National Assembly including clerk of Senate, Mr Nelson Ayewoh; Secretary legal services, Barrister D. T Adem; Director Public Affairs, Barrister Yahaya Danzaria and others, the CNA assured his guest of his burning desire to collaborate with other parliaments in the areas of capacity building for Nigerian lawmakers as well as provide the best advice in ensuring that quality laws are passed by the Nigerian National Assembly.
The CNA also called on ECOWAS to see Nigeria as a trusted ally in the quest for a strong democratic culture, adding that “we are committed to having a harmonious working relationship with ECOWAS parliament, we are prepared to partner with ECOWAS parliament and beyond, in other to upgrade and improve the quality of lawmaking in our countries as well as entrench a high democratic culture”.
Earlier in his address, Dr Magbegbeola told his host that his visit was in line with the tradition of ECOWAS parliament based in Nigeria to pay homage to the parliament of the host-country.
He equally assured of their commitment to foster a mutual relationship between the ECOWAS parliament and the Nigerian parliament.
