Dr Ezekiel Oseni has been appointed as the new Acting Managing Director for the National Economic Reconstruction Fund, NERFUND.

His appointment according to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, was approved by the honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, to take immediate effect.

This followed the Management Agreement that was signed between the Federal Ministry of Finance and Bank of Industry.

Dr Oseni was until his appointment, a General Manager and Chief Risk Officer of the Bank of Industry.

He has the mandate amongst others to reposition the NERFUND ensure that all outstanding debts of the agency are recovered.

Recall that after closure of NERFUND over breakdown of law and order, following a protest, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, on June 28, 2016 directed all staff of the National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERFUND), to immediately return to their duty posts, saying the crisis within the organisation has been resolved.

Staff of the Agency had been directed in a Circular by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Dr. Mahmoud Isa-Dutse on June 15, 2016, to stay away from work to forestall breakdown of law and order, following staff protests.

That time, the wokers asked the federal government to remove the Executive Management of the organisation and recapitalise the fund.
