An online payment portal, VoguePay.com has been named “African Online Payment Platform of the Year” by the Institute of Leadership and Management (a leading West African leadership institute) and Achievers Media.
VoguePay was given the award at the 6th edition of the African Achievers Award 2016 which held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Nigeria on the 8th July, 2016.
Organizers of the award, Institute of Leadership and Management and Achievers Media, had consistently rewarded and honoured great African achievers across the continent.
The Achievers Award is recognized as one of the biggest gathering of influential and global African Achievers on the continent. It has also been rated by FORBES Magazine as one of the most prestigious award ceremonies that represent the whole of the African continent.
According to the principal partner of African Achievers Award, Mr. Tonye Rex Idaminabo, VoguePay won a special recognition award as the African Online Payment Platform of the year as a result of their contribution to online payment in Nigeria and Africa in general.
Launched in 2012, VoguePay is a secure payment gateway with the vision to make online, cross-currency payments and transactions safer, cheaper and more accessible for businesses, traders and consumers in Africa and internationally. It has offices in Lagos, Nigeria and UK with ambitious expansion plans to other African countries.
While acknowledging the award, VoguePay representative, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Jega (Head of Business Development, Africa) reiterated VoguePay’s commitment to excellence, saying the award came on the heels of VoguePay’s recent honour as the “Best Emerging Online Payment Platform in Africa” at the AIITA 2016.
He noted that VoguePay is the biggest payment gateway by merchant size in Nigeria and also serves customers in four continents including North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Along with VoguePay, some of the visionary African leaders honoured for their immense contributions and legacies include the Presidents of Malawi and Zambia; Peter Mutharika and Edgar Lungu respectively. Other award winners include John Momoh (Chairman, Channels TV), Johnson Arthur Sakaja (National Chairman of Ruling Party in Kenya), Mosima Gabriel ( a former Minister in South Africa), Miss Angelle Kwemo (CEO, Rimsom Strategies), Nakedi Matthews Phosa (Politician, SA), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Hon Thapelo Olopeng (Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, Botswana), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mosima Gabriel “Tokyo” Sexwale; one of top ten successful businessmen in South Africa and other accomplished African achievers who were honoured for their works and contributions towards the growth and advancement of the African Continent.
Other notable African leaders who have received the award in the past are Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the late former President of Ghana, John Evans Atta-Mills, John Fashanu, Platinumz Diamond, Dr Charles Dimnwaobi and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
The African Achievers Award was previously hosted in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
