The Minister of State for FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, disclosed on Wednesday that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) posted internally generated revenue of N1.10 billion for the month of June 2012.
The minister, who made this known at the FCT Area Councils Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) in Abuja, also confirmed that the sum of N1.743 billion being allocation from the Federation Account for May 2012 was allocated to the six area councils comprising – Abaji, Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali.
Akinjide, who was represented by the Director of Admin & Finance, Area Councils Services Secretariat, Alhaji Yusuf Tsaiyabu, explained that the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS) contributed N486.82 million out of the total IGR for the preceding month.
She said, “We achieved an IGR of N1.101 billion in June 2012. Of this amount, the sum of N486.82 million was realised by AGIS while Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) collected N304.01 million. Water Board recorded N202.57 million; Abuja Environmental Protection Board, N60.52 million, and Directorate of Road Traffic Services, N34.14 million.”
Of the N1.743 billion allocated to the FCT area councils from the Federation Account, the minister noted that statutory deductions for primary school teachers in the six area councils, 15 per cent pension fund and one per cent training fund accounted for N926.04 million while the net allocation of N817.08 was paid to the six area councils.
She gave the details of the allocation to the area councils as: Abaji (N119.40 million); Abuja Municipal (N172.28 million); Bwari (N142.53 million); Gwagwalada (N143.59 million); Kuje (N121.42 million), and Kwali (N117.84 million).
Akinjide reiterated that FCTA would continue to uphold a transparent and open system of governance in the disbursement of funds to the six area councils.
She assured that the administration had put in place a mechanism to monitor the performance of the area councils on a monthly basis as well as reward the performing councils.
The JAAC meeting was attended by the chairmen of the six area councils.
