Otunla Takeover as Accountant General

The new Accountant-General of the Federation Mr. Ogunniyi Otunla has formally taken over from Mr. A.B. Ogunsanya in a colourful handing over ceremony at the Conference Hall of the Treasury House, Abuja.

Addressing the Treasury family, Mr. Otunla reiterated the need for collective responsibility stating that there were great challenges ahead and it beholves every staff of the Treasury to effectively abide by Mr. President’s transformational agenda in service delivery through the instrumentality of the Public service.

He also pledged his readiness to work collaboratively with all anticipating that every staff will join hands with him in the drive to make OAGF a center of excellence, customer-friendly, service-oriented and completely devoid of corruption in the transformational change process.

Mr. J.O. Otunla thanked God and President Goodluck Jonathan for offering him the opportunity to serve as the chief custodian of the nation’s treasury.

In his valedictory address, the former AGF, Mr. A.B. Ogunsanya, said the handing over event marks his official exit and last official duty from the Federal Public Service of Nigeria in the capacity of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the assumption of duty of his successor, Mr. Jonah Ogunniyi Otunla.

Mr. Ogunsanya, thanked God for the opportunity to serve his fatherland and attributed his success to the support given to him by the staff of the OAGF, and urged the new AGF to take both the staff and the management into confidence, adding that their constructive counseling, personal co-operation and criticisms will serve as the basis for transforming the Treasury and the means to actualizing his goals as prescribed by Mr. President.

The past Accountant-Generals of the Federation, Mr. J.K. Naiyeju and Alhaji Ibrahim H. Dankwambo, the Governor of Gombe State in their good will messages said they were delighted to be part of the event that closes a chapter in the treasury book and opens another, adding that the treasury family is so important to them, emphasizing on the need for integrity, competence and maximum concentration of the staff in the treasury business. They urged the staff to give the new AGF the same assistance they gave to them which made their services a success.

They also pledged to support, contribute and keep the treasury flag flying.
