The Ministry of Police Affairs has noted with concern, some hardships being experienced by some officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force as a result of the recent decentralization of their salary pay point, with the creation of separate points for each of the geo-political zones.
While the temporary hiccups resulting from the exercise are regretted, it must be noted that it is in the best overall interest of the Police personnel concerned, as the decentralization will not only lead to faster payment processes and make the biometric capturing of the officers more effective and less cumbersome, it will also make complaint handling easier for the banks and the officers.
The Ministry wishes to assure all officers concerned that the temporary difficulties would have disappeared with the payment of their October salaries, as the new system is expected to stabilize thereafter.
However, as a safeguard measure, the Ministry has directed the paying banks to set up dedicated desks with designated officials to handle issues relating to salaries of police officers. This has been done with the under-listed telephone numbers to handle such complaints:
1. First Bank PLC – 07058790941, 07058790942
